About Phenoxys - Phenoxy

What are phenoxy herbicides?

Phenoxy herbicides are part of a group of chemicals related to the growth hormone, indoleacetic acid (IAA) and a part of the Group I herbicides.

Phenoxy herbicides work by mimicking IAA or auxin in broadleaf weeds, producing rapid uncontrolled growth, which eventually kills the plant. The most well-known phenoxy herbicide is 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid or 2,4-D, which was developed in the early 1940s and first used commercially in 1946.

Today they remain amongst the world’s most widely used herbicide, providing farmers and other users with broadleaf weeds control in a range of agricultural and non-agricultural applications.
