Pixie an ideal substitute for straight mecoprop-p in the autumn
|
Staight mecoprop-p can no longer be used between October 1st and March 1st. Mecoprop-p was a very useful tool in the autumn for control of a range of weeds especially Volunteer beans or Volunteer oilseed rape
Pixie contains mecoprop-p and diflufenican and is the only mecoprop-p containing product which can be used over this winter period. Pixie contains 500g/litre mecoprop-p which is 83% the strength of straight mecoprop-p. This combined with the residual activity of diflufenican makes Pixie an excellent replacement in most situations.
Pixie is alternative chemistry to sulfonyl ureas reducing the problems associated with sequences

Timing and best spraying conditions
|
Winter wheat & winter barley:
|
Apply from first true leaf stage (GS11) to fourth tiller detectable (GS24)
Pixie can be aplied at any time from autumn through to early spring providing it is applied within the growth stages above
Like mecoprop-p, Pixie works in cooler conditions. Follow similar precautions to mecoprop-p and do not apply during prolonged periods of frosty weather. Frost following application may cause crop damage. Allow 4 hours of drying time before rain. Do not apply to crops under stress

Tank-mixing
|
Pixie is an excellent formulation with good tank-mix flexibility. It has been found to be physically compatible with many products including micronutrients, pyrethroids and a wide range of herbicide products such as Lentipur (chlorotoluron), Thor (tribenuron-methyl) and many other autumn applied herbicides. Consult your agronomist for more information. Always follow the label recommendations for both products when tank-mixing
